Wistful Whispers of Love

by Gowri Bhargav

As the wind whistles my frail heart sings thy name, O’ my love,

In vain I cling to the cherished photo frame, O’my love.

The wafting petrichor reminds me of those fond days past,

In trance, I sway in an illusory game, O’ my love.

Years several have passed yet my love remains untarnished,

My ardent feelings true, have remained the same, O’ my love.

The blazing passion we once shared painted the starlit sky,

‘Twas not just a spark but an eternal flame, O’ my love.

A few moments with thee is all I seek to soothe my soul,

Alas! Matters of the heart are hard to tame, O’ my love.

As I wallow ‘midst monochromes marching towards the grave,

At least sing soft dirges once I’m set aflame, O’ my love.
