Building Bridges

by Gowri Bhargav

Where the wins are glorified to inflate egos,

I’d rather lose time and again to heal hearts.

Where connections are snapped for selfish pursuits,

I’d rather join hands with compassion to uplift mankind.

Where borders are drawn and fenced with hatred,

I’d rather traverse the borderless skies abundant with love.

Where eloquent speech spews words that are caustic,

I’d rather choose silence that heals hearts that are wounded.

Where wars are fought recklessly to nurture a sinned river crimson,

I’d rather bridge barren wastelands replete with tormented souls to establish peace.
