A Soldier’s Last Song

by Gowri Bhargav

Memories teeter betwixt my shut eyes,

As I witness my versions several,

Stars shine down from the empyrean skies,

With the blowing wind I seem to mingle,

Muffled seem the sounds of raging battle,

All ๐™ข๐™–๐™ฅ๐™ฅ๐™š๐™™ borders fade โ€˜midst shades of crimson,

In a ๐™›๐™ค๐™š๐™ฉ๐™–๐™ก ๐™๐™ช๐™จ๐™ I just lay frozen,

Buried โ€˜neath mounting debris six feet deep,

An eternal garden I envision,

Distant dirges lull me to peaceful sleep.
