Have you ever wondered if Math and Poetry can meet? Of course, they can! Nine square is a unique style of poetry that is structured around the principles of Mathematics.
Nine Square poetry style follows the following rules;
Total number of stanzas – 3
Number of lines in a stanza – 3
Each line has 9 syllables. So there are totally 81 syllables ( 9 syllables/line * 9 lines) in this structure which is 9^2
- The first line has 9 words which are 9 mono syllables.
- The second line has 3 words having 3 syllables each.
- The third line has 6 words—mono syllable followed by a word with two syllables.

Here is a poem that I have attempted;
Melodies of Autumn
Trees hum and sway as the crisp wind blows,
Autumnal symphonies sussurate,
The verses of nature seem soothing.
Bright hues paint the woods for eyes to feast,
Dramatic sceneries manifest
In palettes warm, vivid and playful.
In trance I dance to the songs of fall,
Recalling memories several,
The gilded leaves portray fond bygones.
