Acrostic poem is a form of poetry in which the first letter of each line reads as a word or message when read vertically and encompasses the central idea or meaning of the word or message.
It is one of the easiest forms of poetic styles. The lines may or may not rhyme.
Here is a poem I have written;
SANKRANTI
Saluting the Sun god with heartfelt gratitude
A time of the year when friends and family fondly gather
Newly harvested rice cooked and relished with milk and jaggery
Kitchens waft with myriad flavors galore
Rhythms and drumbeats resound as the atmosphere turns festive
A festival with names several celebrated across the country
New beginnings ensue a promising future
Traditions passed on across generations to preserve cultural roots
Indian festivals seamlessly blend harmony ‘midst diversity.
