Entrapment

by Gowri Bhargav

My eyes incessantly craved for thine eyes,

Day after day I became trapped in thee,

My hopeless heart believed thy cloying lies,

A realm beyond thy world I did not see.

I was oblivious to the impending doom,

and surrendered myself,

Slowly and steadily over time,

to thy manipulative mind.

I was entangled in thy mesh of love,

Games thou played had a narcissistic plot,

A gaslighted victim I became, yet

My eyes incessantly craved for thine eyes.
