Lai is a French form and has the following features:
- 9 line , one stanza
- This style follows the following rhyme scheme : a a b a a b a a b
- All a lines have 5 syllables; all b lines have 2 syllables
Here is a poem attempted by me;
TITLE : PRISONER OF THE PAST
Darkness engulfs me,
I yearn to break free,
In vain…
Past wounds still appear,
How I shrink with fear
and pain…
My dreams turn dreary,
The paths seem misty
and wane…
