Theme : Write about a piece of architecture that you admire

An architectural marvel dating from the 8th century,

A site of busy port during Pallava dynasty,

A prominent landmark for seafarers,

Mahabalipuram is timeless because of its architectural marvels.

The cave temples and the monolithic rathas stand as a testament,

To the brilliant workmanship and intricate attention given to architectural elegance,

Unfortunately out of the seven pagodas, the shore temple complex is the last that stands,

Among the other series of temples that under the bay of Bengal are now remnants.

Built during the reign of the great King Narasimhavarman,

The site now has about 40 monuments,

The mandapa viharas depict narratives from Mahabaratha and Vaishnavism,

The stone cut temples dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu carry ancient inscriptions.

A must visit landmark, those witnessed would agee,

A UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a place for breathtaking photography,

Mahabalipuram transports us to a bygone era of legend,

As our knowledge of our vibrant culture and roots are deepened.
