Waltmarie is a poetic form created by Candace Kubinec and named after Marie Elena Good and Walter .J. Wojtanik.
It is a unique form of poetry( 10 lines) where the even lines composed of 2 syllables each form another poem if read separately. The odd lines don’t have any syllable restrictions.
Here are the key characteristics of the Waltmarie poetic form;
- Number of lines : 10
- Odd lines( line 1,3,5,7,9) can be of any syllable length
- Even lines have to be exactly 2 syllables long.
- Odd lines end with an em dash
- Even lines when read separately should form another short poem.
Here is a sample poem written by me;

TITLE : An Artist’s Yearning
As her raven tresses flutter with the gentle zephyr I’m lost—
Entranced
Buttery soft seem her melrose lips fail to kiss me—
I yearn
I seek a haven ’midst her six yards of luscious silk—
With love
Stories surreal are harboured within her hazel eyes—
My muse
In a world parallel I wish to dwell with her—
My art
***
Here’s the short poem only with the even lines;
Entranced
I yearn
With love,
My muse
My art
