Drugs–A Vicious Trap

by Gowri Bhargav

Theme : A poem that expresses anger, guilt, remorse for someone/ something

An errant son–sadly, I strayed away,

“Lemme try drugs”, to my friends I did insist,

My uncontrollable mind went astray.

To dangerous drugs, I fell prey,

Wallowing in a surreal world that did not exist,

An errant son–sadly, I strayed away.

Engulfed I was by clouds gray,

My paths shuddered ‘midst billowing mist,

My uncontrollable mind went astray.

Dreams several I’d woven everyday,

Remember, Ma? To you I did list,

An errant son–sadly, I strayed away.

The addiction was vicious to my dismay,

My future tumbled – the devil played a vile twist,

My uncontrollable mind went astray.

Forgive me, Ma! Your trust and love, I did betray,

For a second chance I earnestly plead, though the damages persist,

An errant son–sadly, I strayed away,

My uncontrollable mind went astray.
