‘Long hair is beautiful and a blessing ,’ people nonchalantly say,
‘My hair’ to others seems, an object of display!
I wash, dry, oil, comb and let it sway,
Glad that unseen remain a few errant greys,
Braid it religiously taming every stray,
Braving the hot, sweaty weather even during Chennai’s hot May,
Alas! Respected only while it firmly stays,
But a little bit of hairfall puts everyone at dismay,
‘Not a single errant strand should be found in food or on the floor,’ I sincerely pray,
Boy! The grotesque remarks if found spoils the mood of my peaceful day,
The cons vs. pros for long hair, grossly outweighs,
Making me wonder if I should chop it off, cut all the drama and with it just part ways.
