Nostalgia and Impermanence

Fond nostalgia shimmers in the gilded sky,
As I amble along counting my grays,
Memories linger though moments may die.

During times of yore, my dreams did fly,
The mirth, fame- ‘twas just a phase,
Fond nostalgia shimmers in the gilded sky.

Seasons of spring have retired with a sigh,
I rummage my brain reminiscing the fragrant days,
Memories linger though moments may die.

Autumn too has waned, Alas! Winter seems dry,
I ricochet from reality–to the past I trace,
Fond nostalgia shimmers in the gilded sky.

Time can ne’er be reversed, no matter how hard I try,
‘Neath a duvet of warm recollections my strained soul stays,
Memories linger though moments may die.

To the mortal life though I might say goodbye,
The limitless universe would welcome me in myriad ways,
Fond nostalgia shimmers in the gilded sky,
Memories linger though moments may die.

Poetry form : 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲
The Villanelle is known for its repeated lines and a refrain. It consists of five tercets and a quatrain (6 stanzas or 19 lines in total). The form is expressed this way:
