Love and the Longing Lament

by Gowri Bhargav

The winter bird sang its last song, with tears my eyes

The wafting fragrance from ๐˜ฃ๐˜ข๐˜ฌ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ณ now falters in ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป, ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ!

I’ve counted every last leaf of autumn as it swayed to its skeletal self,

In the cups of intoxicating ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ณ๐˜ข your swirling image maddens my ๐—ฏ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป, ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ!

The days and nights taunt alike, with silhouetted shadows I share my musings,

My silent whispers of your sweet name numbs all prevalent

The withering roses that I hold shimmer with your rose tinged lips that I kissed,

Like a ๐˜ฑ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ฉ๐˜ฎ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ข shawl I wrap those fond memories for warmth, but how long will it ๐˜€๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ถ๐—ป, ๐—บ๐˜† ๐—น๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ!

The enticing grapes seem sour, hunger bothers me no more,

I seek solace in a distant realm, as reality drives me

Come soon, while my pausing breaths still linger feigning a life with you,

Let your unveiled face revive me with elixir from
