Krishna- the Savior

by Gowri Bhargav

Theme : Write about any mythological tale/ character or festival

For seven days and nights the rains were incessant,

When all inhabitants were in a state of panic,

Lord Krishna protected Vrindavan from the storm violent.

The village was flooded, strong was the current,

The conditions that prevailed seemed tragic,

For seven days and nights the rains were incessant.

Lord Indra felt insulted, the villagers had skipped his puja recurrent,

Though he conjured up clouds erratic,

Lord Krishna protected Vrindavan from the storm violent.

To Govardhan mountain, all villagers had offered their prayers reverent,

Angering neglected Indra who punished them in ways tyrannic,

For seven days and nights the rains were incessant.

As the divine cowherd lifted Govardhan to sheild the rain persistant,

People prayed and rejoiced with dance and music,

Lord Krishna protected Vrindavan from the storm violent.

Indra’s ego was shattered, his defeat was evident,

He bowed with humility, Krishna was sympathetic,

Though for seven days and nights the rains were incessant,

Lord Krishna protected Vrindavan from the storm violent.
